Hi. Welcome to Salt.
I’m Lauren (she/her), a lover of the natural world, former teacher and teacher-coach, curious adventurer, athlete, mom and wife to my wife. I have degrees in Education and Marriage and Family Therapy and a background in critical theory and human rights. I strive to make mental health counseling accessible to LGBTQIA+ families and individuals, and work hard to offer connected, inclusive, informed and reflective sessions for all folks.
I have trained in or am currently training in a variety of therapeutic models, including IFS, EFT, Gottman, Maternal Mental Health, Polyvagal and Somatic Theories. I operate from a humanistic and attachment basis.
Salt cleans, cures, preserves, protects. It feeds, floats, seasons, restores, balances, uplifts and energizes. It represents luck, wisdom, honor, the body & rebirth. It can also tarnish and ruin.
It is both/and - contradictory and complex, just like us.
I believe:
Therapy can offer space to verbalize and explore ideas, feelings and behaviors that are perhaps too uncomfortable to confront in the outside world.
Our earliest relationships (with parents or caregivers) set the foundation for how we relate to other humans as we grow older, and how we understand Love.
Healing does not happen in isolation. As humans, we need to be in relationship (community) with others to thrive.
Our bodies are intrinsically wise. The modern world doesn’t necessarily encourage or teach us how to access this deep well of knowledge, but we can benefit from (re)learning to listen.
