Hi. Welcome to Salt.

I’m Lauren (she/her), a lover of the natural world, former teacher and teacher-coach, curious adventurer, athlete, mom and wife to my wife. I have degrees in Education and Marriage and Family Therapy and a background in critical theory and human rights. I strive to make mental health counseling accessible to LGBTQIA+ families and individuals, and work hard to offer connected, inclusive, informed and reflective sessions for all folks.

I have trained in or am currently training in a variety of therapeutic models, including IFS, EFT, Gottman, Maternal Mental Health, Polyvagal and Somatic Theories. I operate from a humanistic and attachment basis.

Salt cleans, cures, preserves, protects. It feeds, floats, seasons, restores, balances, uplifts and energizes. It represents luck, wisdom, honor, the body & rebirth. It can also tarnish and ruin.

It is both/and - contradictory and complex, just like us.

I believe:

  • Therapy can offer space to verbalize and explore ideas, feelings and behaviors that are perhaps too uncomfortable to confront in the outside world.

  • Our earliest relationships (with parents or caregivers) set the foundation for how we relate to other humans as we grow older, and how we understand Love.

  • Healing does not happen in isolation. As humans, we need to be in relationship (community) with others to thrive.

  • Our bodies are intrinsically wise. The modern world doesn’t necessarily encourage or teach us how to access this deep well of knowledge, but we can benefit from (re)learning to listen.
